6 Techniques to Lose Weight Without Exercising
I have friends who are pretty much adamant about not exercising because let's face it, it's tiring and boring at times. But is it really possible to lose weight without exercising? I know people who has done it but how effective was their pursuit? The following are 5 to do without even trying.
1. Protein is Everything
When you want to suppress our appetite, protein is the best food to eat. They are fewer in calories and they will easily make you full. The reason is the affects of several hormones that play into making you feel full such as GLP-1 and ghrelin. Actually, according to one study, an increase of protein intake of 15% to 30% helped curb 441 fewer calories. Really cool, right?2. Always Drink Water
Eat less and lose more weight by drinking water. Do this especially before eating a meal. On one study, adults who drink about half a liter of water before their meal feel less hungry and they eat fewer calories. And with a consistent routine, they were any to lose 44% more weight in a span of 12-weeks compared to people who didn't do the same method.
3. Eat in Smaller Portions
It's all about the portion sizes. The smaller, the better. Use a smaller plate and fill it up with food that way you don't feel like you're missing out. The point is, you want to trick your mind into thinking you're eating more when really, you're eating less.
4. Eat the Half When You're at the Restaurant
Portions are so much bigger when you're at a restraurant which makes it so hard for to lose weight and keep track of calories. Instead, cut the meal in half. Eat that part and take the rest home for another meal. In many cases, food served at a restaurant are always plated for 2-4 meals. So avoid eating a day's worth of food in one sitting.
5. Don't be Afraid to Skip Meals
It's okay to skip a meal especially when you're not hungry. Why force yourself to eat when you're not feeling hungry. When you're not exercising, the goal is to eat less. Whether you want to distribute your food throughout the day or have two "big" meals and skip, the next, it's up to you. I have friends who eat a light breakfast in the morning with cereal and milk. Then they eat whatever they want for lunch (of course, they do choose the healthier options) and drink tea for dinner. The fact that they had pretty "big" lunch was reason enough to skip a meal.
6. Learn How to Listen to Your Body
If you're hungry, eat. When you're not, don't eat out of boredom. Instead do something you think would be fun to help you forget your cravings. Read a good book, go for a hike, watch a show. Always find ways to distract yourself so you don't find yourself consistently eating unnecessary meals.
